A man with known psychiatric problems stabbed a 19-year-old girl three times in western

France today, June 14 telling police he had heard voices ordering him to make a “sacrifice” for Ramadan.

The attack came a day after a jihadist killed a French police couple in a small town near Paris, in a stabbing inspired by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria group.

“Voices told him that he had to make a sacrifice on the occasion of Ramadan,” the holy Muslim fasting month that began on June 6, prosecutor Nicolas Jacquet told AFP.

The 32-year-old man was immediately assessed by a doctor and sent to a psychiatric hospital after stabbing the girl twice in the wrist and once in the abdomen, Jacquet said, adding that the teenager’s wounds are not life-threatening.

The assailant told a witness that he was a Muslim before handing over the knife after the attack, Jacquet said.

The man had been in and out of psychiatric wards several times, the prosecutor said, adding that he told investigators he was being treated for schizophrenia and was supposed to receive an injection today.

Abuja - The Director- General of the Nigerian Copyright Commission(NCC), Mr Afam Ezekude says the commission will soon embark on a nationwide raid of MP3 dealers and outlets across Nigeria.
Ezekude who spoke in Abuja on Friday, said; ``we are set to clamp down heavily on pirates who deal in MP3 across the country’’.
``It is a relatively new form of piracy, and it will no longer be business as usually for people who download and sell other people’s music using the MP3.
``This anti-piracy raid on MP3 will state in major cities known to be piracy hubs across the six geo-political zones,” Ezekude said.
According to him, the planned invasion of MP3 dealers is to further reaffirm the commission’s zero tolerance stand against piracy in all its forms.
He added that the commission was conducting anti-piracy surveillance exercises across major markets and streets within some cities.
``Alaba is the hub of piracy in Lagos, so the commissions operations in the South West will be focused on the market within this period.
``Other towns such as Ilorin, Ibadan, Yola, Kaduna, Enugu, Benin City, as well as the Federal Capital Territory will also be checked,’’ he noted.
Ezekude stated that the raid would serve as a warning to those planning to venture into MP3 business that it was no longer a lucrative venture.
``The era in which pirates enrich themselves through fake products, thereby undermining the sales and distribution of legitimate products is over,” he warned.
He also commended other enforcement agencies, especially the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Customs Service for their collaborative roles in the commission’s fight against piracy.

This type of device comes in the form of a car stereo, a portable discman type device, and a home entertainment device which will also play DVDs.
While the MP3 compression technology is not illegal, the distribution of MP3 files without the copyright owners consent is a violation of the copyright law.

Emmanuel Nwachukwu, a 52-year-old father-of-four, stated this while being paraded by the police in Minna, Niger State, along with the second suspect, Chinedu Andrew, 22. The duo were accused of raping their 12-year-old Primary Six, neighbour.

According to Nwachukwu, “I have tested positive to HIV/AIDS, but before the test was conducted, I did not know I had the virus. I didn't rape the girl, I made love with her. She told me she was about 15 years old, one afternoon in November 2015, she came to my residence when I lay on my bed .

She climbed the bed and was touching me. I asked what her problem was because I saw her as a young girl, but she responded that I would not understand. She kept on playing with me and when I could no longer hold myself, I made love to her.”

When I realised that she was wayward, I started telling her that I was going to report her to her mother but she responded that she was going to tell her mother that I was the one that had been making love to her.”

Andrew, on his part, claimed the she agreed to be his girlfriend when he informed her that he was aware of her love affairs with Oga Emma. He said: “She replied that it was the man that was pestering her for sex.”

He added that no sooner had he given the advice to her than she started touching him in some sensitive parts of his body, after which he quickly stripped his clothes and made love to her.

He went on to say: “It was Oga Emma who went and informed her mother that I was sleeping with her daughter. The case was reported to the the police and I was arrested. I felt I had not done anything to warrant being arrested because I felt I was innocent as the girl voluntarily agreed that I should be her boyfriend.

I also told the police that I was not the only one sleeping with the girl and mentioned Oga Emma’s name.” The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana, said they'd would be charged to court, as soon as investigation was concluded, but didn't reveal the girl's HIV status.  The Senate of the University of Ibadan on Thursday approved the reopening of the university for academic activities on June 20, 2016, after about six weeks forceful closure over students protests. The Senate which was presided over by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Abel Idowu Olayinka, resolved to reopen the premier university for full academic activities on the 20th of June, while examinations will commence on July 4. It will be recalled that the University was shut down on April 6, 2016 following restiveness on campus as students expressed their displeasure over the suspension of a union leader by the students’ disciplinary committee and non-availability of some amenities needed on the campus such as lack of power and water which they said had made learning difficult for them. The UI Senate, while considering the decision of the Committee of Provost, Deans and Directors, urged the university administration to hold an interactive session with students body before being allowed into residence on the need to abide by the matriculation oath and conduct themselves in a responsible manner. The Vice Chancellor, Professor Olayinka had commended the parents who attended the stakeholders meeting of the university stating that the university believed that the parents will caution their wards just as he dropped the hint that the premier university will apply sanctions prescribed in the laws of the university on any erring students. Professor Olayinka, who lamented that the university of Ibadan have lost eight weeks to the crisis which led to the closure of the university, added that the session will now end around January 11, 2017 as against October 2016 in the original academic calendar meaning that "those who are supposed to graduate and do convocation this year will now have to wait till next year".‎
